The Village Fire Department will be hosting 2 CPR and AED Training Classes this summer on June 20^th, 2023, and July 20^th, 2023. Classes will be held at the Village Fire Department Headquarters located at 901 Corbindale Road in Hedwig, from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. Space is limited to 14 students for each class. The cost is $35 per student.  Register at www.Villagefire.org ASAP to save your spot. See attached Flyer.

On Wednesday, Hunters Creek Elementary School held their annual 5^th grade graduation car parade.  Officers Boggus and Vasquez joined in the “Mardi Gras” themed event as the group traveled from the school to the racquet club for a pool party. Congratulations HCE.

On Thursday, Memorial Drive Elementary held their 5^th grade graduation parade. The parade started at the SBISD temporary facility and traveled to the racquet club. The theme for MDE was “Top Gun”. Congratulations MDE.

So, as you can see above, lots of graduations are occurring across the villages. Students are graduating from schools of all types and with the graduations come parties.  Every year during the last week of May and especially on Memorial weekend we see graduation parties across the villages. Unfortunately, we also see a significant increase in calls for loud parties that often include parking complaints. Remember to be respectful of neighbors. What we find that works best is first informing neighbors about the event so everyone knows what is going on. If there will be a large gathering with lots of cars, please consider using a valet service. Ask guests to park in a manner that does not block driveways and that will allow for fire trucks and emergency vehicles to safely pass down the street. A minimum of 96 inches is required.  In the event of an emergency, fire trucks do not stop and measure the width of the road, they will just drive through, anyway they can.  As for noise, please point any sound equipment towards your home and not at your neighbors. Music should be turned down by 10 pm, and off by 11pm or midnight, depending on your city. Pool parties also need to be monitored so noise does not get out of control. And most important, if alcohol is a part of your party (for legal aged guests) please ensure that guests are not over-served, and arrangements are made for them to get home safely. Ride-share services work great. Remember, you can be held civilly liable for over-serving guests who later become involved in an accident.  And of course, our officers will be on the look-out for intoxicated drivers over the next several weeks. Again, congratulations to all our 2023 graduates.    

Reminder – Monday is Memorial Day, so city offices are closed. There will be garbage collection, but no construction or lawn service is allowed.

After this weekend, next up is the 4^th of July.  There will be a 4^th of July parade this year. (Sorry just a parade, no Village Independence Festival). This is everyone’s annual opportunity to be in a parade. There are only 2 requirements, one you register with Ms. Malloy Pack of Bunker Hill Village at mpack@bunkerhilltx.gov and two, you decorate your car, truck, trailer, boat,or motorcycle in Red, White and Blue. The entire community is invited to come out and line Piney Point Road between Gaylord and Ecclesia Church and display your patriotism. All observers are also to asked to wear, Red, White and Blue and to bring your flags and help us celebrate.

We will have police cars, bicycles, and our motorcycle, along with the Village Fire Department. There will be a mayor or two, some city councilors and commissioners. All we need now are some scouts, church groups, clubs, car groups, veterans or anyone who wants to join in. Decorated bicycles are also asked to show up and ride out front of the parade.  Anyone wanting to run down Piney Point Road (wearing Red, White and Blue) can also join in. Runners and bicycles leave at 945 am and the parade kicks off at 10am sharp. We will line up on Gaylord in the church parking lot at 9:30 am on July 4^th. So, plan now on celebrating the 4^th of July with your neighbors and friends right here in the Memorial Villages.

Weekly Crime Report

Unregistered and Uninsured Vehicle Enforcement

5/19/23 at 0845 Hours. 200 Block of Voss. Vehicle never registered and displaying a fake temporary license plate.

5/24/23 at 0830 Hours. 900 Voss. Expired 8/22. The driver had multiple outstanding warrants for expired registration and no insurance. The driver was arrested.

Piney Point

5/19/23 at 1415 Hours. 200 Block of Kinkaid School Road. Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. School staff reported that two unknown males(s) had entered two unlocked vehicles on the school property without the permission of the owners.  The suspects had entered the school property after using a ruse with security.  Nothing was taken during the vehicle burglaries. The suspect vehicle is a gray Dodge Charger. (Photo attached) A check of nearby ALPR cameras identified the license plate on the Dodge that belongs to a known auto burglar (SLD-2033).  Officers were able to locate a fingerprint on one of the victim vehicles.  MVPD detectives were notified and have taken over the investigation. 

5/22/23 at 0615 Hours. 11600 Block of Memorial. Driving While Intoxicated. While on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle to be traveling on the wrong side of the street in the wrong direction (head-on) on Memorial Drive. Officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop. Upon approaching the 33-year-old male driver, officers observed signs of intoxication. The driver was asked to perform a series of sobriety tests which he failed.  The male was placed under arrest and booked into the Harris County Jail after officers obtained a blood draw warrant as the driver refused to provide a breath test sample.

5/23/23 at 1500 Hours. 200 Block of Millbrook. Animal Bite. A City employee was conducting a routine inspection when she was bitten multiple times by a dog. The dog owner was identified, and the animal was found to be current on all vaccinations. The inspector went to an emergency clinic for treatment and the dog ordered to be quarantined for the mandatory 10-day observation period.

5/25/23 at 1715 Hours. 11300 Block of Smithdale. Fraud.  The victim reported that upon examining her mother’s checking account she discovered several transactions that have occurred over the past 3 weeks that were not made or authorized by her mother.  The accounts show that all of the activity relates to payments made on the behalf of an unknown female paying her numerous bills. Information about the activity and the female was obtained and provided to MVPD detectives who have taken over the investigation.

5/26/23 at 0615 Hours. 11600 Block of Arrowood. Prowler/Fugitive.  Officers had been dispatched to the area during the overnight hours after a resident observed a male subject run through her backyard. Officers were back in the area searching this morning in the daylight when a second call advised of a suspicious male subject in the area. Officers located and detained the male subject. Through investigation it was learned that the male suspect is homeless and living in the Bayou. The male was found to also be wanted in Louisiana for theft of a motor vehicle. The 31-year-old male was then transported and booked into the Harris County Jail for extradition back to Louisiana.  

Hunters Creek

5/24/23 at 0945 Hours. 800 Block of Saddlewood. Burglary of a Building. Sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning unknown person(s) entered the gated construction site and broke off a lock on a construction trailer. Once inside the trailer, 3 ventilation fans were taken. Officers collected information about the theft and notified detectives who have taken over the investigation.
