This week
our officers, detectives and staff have been busy attending events in the
community and at our area schools.
On Monday we
hosted the annual “Lunch with a Punch”. Former RAD students gathered to refresh
their self-defense skills and share a lunch together. Thanks to all of our
former students who attended.
Tuesday was Election
Day here in the villages. We hosted a total of 4 voting locations, and all went
well with no issues. The election judges and their teams all did a great job
keeping everyone organized. So, with the elections now behind us it is time to
remove all the election’s signs. If you have a sign on your property, please
remove it as soon as possible.
Wednesday, Memorial
Drive Elementary School hosted career day. Officers Boggus and Vasquez spent
time with students talking about their jobs as police officers, drone pilots,
DARE officers and all the various jobs and tasks that law enforcement personnel
perform.
On Thursday
we returned to Memorial Drive Elementary where MVPD staff had lunch with
students from kindergarten through 5th grade for their Veterans and
Public Safety Day. MVPD was joined by Hedwig PD, Spring Branch ISD, Railroad
Police, Retired police officers from multiple agencies from across the country,
Village Fire and many area residents and grandparents who have served in all
branches of the military. The event coincided with the Birthday of the US
Marine Corp. While that was going on, other officers were in the gym running
students through an obstacle course similar to the one that military and first
responder personnel need to complete as part of their job duties. Everyone had
a great time and positive interactions. While all of that was going on MVPD was
hosting RAD instructors from across the region for a training update and lunch
at Chapelwood Church.
Today,
Bunker Hill Village city officials and staff treated both the MVPD, VFD and our
families to a BBQ lunch out front of City Hall. Again, it was a great meal and
an opportunity for everyone to take a short break and share some fellowship
together.
Once again
thank you to the residents who sent over Texan football tickets and Chris Rock
Tickets, along with the donuts, Crave cupcakes, candy, and fruit this past week.
As always, we appreciate you for taking care of our officers and dispatchers.
Next week
will be a large-scale active shooter training event in Hunters Creek
Village. The event will be held on
Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 0845 to approximately 1500 Hours. Brogden
will be closed during this time between Beinhorn and Gaylord. Only local
traffic/residents will be allowed in and out of the area. There will be a large law enforcement and
fire presence in the area. There is no need to worry as multiple safety checks
are being performed for this FBI sponsored exercise. A special thanks to the
over 100 area role players who will be assisting in the training exercise.
The last RAD
Class for 2022 will be held December 14 thru the 16th from 10 am
until 2 pm. This annual class is geared for mother daughter teams to complete
the class together however everyone is always welcome to attend. Classes will
be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church.

Weekly Crime Report
Piney
Point
11/6/22 at
2200 Hours. 300 Block of Piney Point. Reckless Driving. Officers were on patrol
when they observed a vehicle traveling on Piney Point Road at a high speed from
behind. The vehicle swerved into the on-coming lane of traffic and passed the
officer at 90 MPH. Officers pursued the
vehicle to Briar Forrest where the vehicle got caught up in heavy traffic and
came to a stop. The driver admitted to
speeding and stated that he did not realize that he had passed a fully marked
police vehicle. The 17-year-old male driver was arrested and booked into the
Harris County Jail due to his reckless driving behavior.
11/8/22 at
1200 Hours. 300 Robbins. Fraud. The
victim had been on vacation in South Asia where an unknown person there had
obtained his credit card information making several fraudulent charges in Asia.
The victim was able to ascertain where he had used his credit card and found 7
charges that were not his. The victims bank agreed the charges were fraudulent
and requested a report for documentation purposes only. Report was completed.
11/9/22 at
1830 Hours. 400 Block of Gingham. Harassment by telephone. The victim had
previously informed the MVPD of recurring harassment from a former
acquaintance. MVPD officers have had prior contact with the subject and had
told him to cease the contact. The subject has not heeded the prior advice and
has been captured on the ALPR system returning to the victim’s
neighborhood. Officers have been working
with detectives and were able to obtain a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
11/10/22 at
2230 Hours. 11500 Block of Memorial Drive. Driving While Intoxicated. Officers stopped a vehicle for a routine
traffic violation. Upon approaching the
driver, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana and alcohol on the
driver. The driver admitted to consuming
both and was administered a series of sobriety tests which she failed. The 26-year-old
female was placed under arrest and booked into the Harris County Jail and the
vehicle was towed.
Hunters
Creek
11/7/22 at
2145 Hours. 400 Block of Boros. Fraud. The victim reported that a relative had
changed the victims address to the relative’s address, to harass him and to receive
the victims’ mail. Information about the incident was collected and provided to
detectives for their follow up investigation.
11/8/22 at
1615 Hours. 7500 Block of Riverview Way. Criminal Mischief. A contractor was
working at a resident’s home and while present, a UPS driver was making a
delivery. The two of them got into an argument after the UPS driver sounded his
horn at the repairman. When the UPS driver was leaving the home, he
slashed a tire on the repairman’s vehicle. Information was collected about the
incident. MVPD detectives are in the process of obtaining a “to-be” warrant for
the arrest of the UPS driver.
11/11/22 at
0745 Hours. 1-100 block of Voss Park. Fraud. The victim reported that she was
contacted by her accountant in reference to a check that had not been received
for payment. The victim contacted her
bank and learned that the check that she had issued, had been intercepted,
washed, reissued, and cashed. The bank said they would investigate that
incident. On this date, the victim checked her bank account and located another
fraudulent check with the exact same check number had been reissued to another
individual that she did not know, and her bank had cashed that check as well.
The original check had been mailed at a blue mailbox located on Long Point Road. Information about the check was
collected and provided to detectives for their follow up investigation.
Bunker
Hill
11/10/22 at
0915 Hours. 200 Block of Gessner. Unauthorized Use of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Officers
were alerted to a stolen truck entering the villages on Gessner Road. Officers were nearby and located the stolen
truck driving in the area. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver stated that a
subject whom he only knows the first name of, had been at his home the evening
prior, but had left leaving the vehicle there while still running. This morning
he needed to go and buy some car parts for his car and since the vehicle was
there and running, he thought he could borrow it. The owner (business) of the vehicle was contacted,
and he stated that the truck had been stolen from his business overnight the
day prior. The DA’s Office was contacted and accepted charges on the 28-year-old
male who was booked into the Harris County Jail. The truck was recovered.
