From the Desk of Chief Ray Schultz,
Thanks to our Flock ALPR system, Wednesday evening was
a good night for the community and for us. At approximately 1845 hours (6:45pm)
we received notification that a burglary suspect’s vehicle from a prior home
burglary in the Riverbend neighborhood, had hit one of our ALPR cameras. Detectives had entered the license plate into
the system after we located the suspect vehicle by using cameras last week to
identify the suspects’ vehicle. As officers responded to the area, they
observed the suspect pull into a nearby parking lot and quickly enter a
store. Officers then positioned
themselves out of sight and monitored the vehicle. Officers observed the male exit the store 3
times, look around and then reenter the store.
A short time later the suspect emerged from the store and got back into
his vehicle. As officers attempted to
stop the suspect, he attempted to evade the officers by driving into the
sidewalk. The suspect then hit a telephone pole, bushes, and a building where
he became stuck. The suspect then ran
from officers on foot. [More]
