From the Desk of Chief Ray Schultz,

The MVPD emergency dispatch center remodel has been progressing very well. New equipment is being installed next week, with live testing of the new systems starting shortly afterwards. Our staff is excited about the new technology that will help improve our efficiency in handling calls for service. Dispatchers will now have the ability to have more systems and databases kept open on the screens in front of them and need to goggle between various systems. We are planning to have a virtual open house when we make the operational transfer to the new center. More on that in a future V-linc report.

A couple of weeks ago after an event here at the PD we were conducting tours of our jail. Several residents commented that we had the cleanest jail that they had ever seen. (Note: They did not want to explain any details about how they knew that fact) In any event, we have also been freshening up the jail with some new paint and a new prisoner monitoring system. Our thanks to the Board of Police Commissioners for including this project in our 2023 budget and to Sergeant Pavlock for managing this vital project.  

Senior High School Car Parade. The 2023 Memorial High School Senior Parade is scheduled for May 13, 2023, at 10 am. The route will begin at the Memorial High School Field House and travel down Piney Point Road ending near Ecclesia Church. Graduating seniors decorate their vehicles in the school colors of their future College or University. Everyone is invited to line the route and to cheer on the Class of 2023.  

Several of you have been asking if there is going to be a 4^th of July Parade. We were able to find out that, YES there will be a parade this year, along with the annual bicycle pre-parade kick-off. Everyone is invited to decorate their bicycle in a patriotic theme of Red, White, and Blue and to start off this year’s parade. The streets will be blocked off so bicycles, tricycles and unicycles can get the parade rolling. After a 10 minutes head start, the regular parade will follow. Decorated, cars, trucks, motorcycles, and floats will then travel down Piney Point Road from Gaylord ending at Ecclesia Church. So, if you ever wanted to be in a parade, now is your chance. Decorate the family car or truck (Red, White and Blue), pack up and load up the kids, practice your parade hand wave, and join in an old-fashioned community parade celebrating the birthday of our great nation. More to come in upcoming V-linc messages but start planning now to join us on the 4^th.

Last Friday evening, Officers Boggus and Vasquez had a great time at the Bunker Hill Elementary School spring fling. Thanks for the invite.

Weekly Crime Report

Hunters Creek

4/14/23 at 0345 Hours. 300 Block of Voss Road. Assault.  HPD requested MVPD officers to assist them on an in-progress fight that they had driven up on that was occurring in the 300 block of Voss. Upon arrival officers located two women fighting on the grass next to a vehicle. The women were separated.  Both women stated that they are in a relationship and were driving home when they had gotten into an argument. One had struck the other while driving. They then pulled over, exited the vehicle, and began to fight each other. Both declined wanting to file charges against one another. The DA’s Office was contacted and also declined any charges at this time. The subjects agreed to leave the area and left together in the vehicle.

4/17/23 at 1115 Hours. 10900 Block of Longshadow. Fraud.  The victim reported that upon reviewing his credit card statement he located a charge that he had not made or authorized at a vehicle repair business. Information about the unauthorized charge was collected and provided to detectives for their follow-up investigation. The credit card account was frozen by the bank.   

Piney Point

4/17/23 at 1245 Hours. 11500 Block of Raintree. Criminal Mischief. The victim reported that someone had broken a window of his work vehicle to steal equipment. The victim reviewed area surveillance footage and located a male arrive in a blue Nissan. The male broke out a window after looking inside of the work van, before being scared off.  Officers checked nearby ALPR system cameras and located the Nissan and a license plate. The license plate was found to be fake. The plate was entered into the ALPR system as an active criminal. On 4/18/23 the license plate hit an ALPR in Katy, Texas and was stopped by Katy PD. The driver was identified and found to be a known suspect from previous vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Memorial Villages area last summer.  Katy placed the suspect under arrest for the fake license plate.  MVPD is following up and will be filing additional charges. One other area police agency was also able to determine that the same suspect had committed a car burglary in their jurisdiction recently and is also filing additional charges.

4/19/23 at 1800 Hours. 11400 Block of Shadow Way. Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle. Officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle entering the villages via the ALPR system.  Officers began searching the area and located the vehicle traveling on Greenbay. Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the single occupant. The driver stated that he did not own the vehicle and that he did not have a key fob for the vehicle. He stated that an unknown friend had asked him to drive it and deliver it to a location for him. The driver refused to disclose that location. The victim was contacted and stated that the vehicle was stolen from his home sometime overnight. The DA’s Office was contacted and accepted charges on the 22-year-old male subject who was booked into the Harris County Jail. The vehicle was recovered.

Bunker Hill

4/20/23 at 1700 Hours. 11900 Block of Cobblestone. Industrial Accident. Construction workers arrived at a construction site to find a worker had fallen from the second story on to the cement pavement below and had suffered extensive head trauma. EMS attended to the injuries and had the victim life-flighted to a level one trauma center for treatment. Next of kin were notified. The victim remains in intensive care.
