Tomorrow, the MVPD will be joining HEB for the long-awaited return of their Annual “HEB Kid’s Day”.  The event will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022, at the Bunker Hill HEB from 10 am – 4 pm. Stop by anytime to enjoy free food samples and have some fun.

This week, Officer Ortega joined area Special Olympian’s at the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant for a “tip-a-cop” Special Olympics Fundraiser.  Officer Ortega has been very active in representing the MVPD at Special Olympic events across the state.  We appreciate Officer Ortega for her dedication in helping these worthy athletes as they compete throughout the year.

On Tuesday, we participated in a Countywide meeting of law enforcement executives hosted by the District Attorney’s Office, HPD, Harris County Sheriffs Office, and the Houston Area Police Chief’s Association. The D.A. called for the special meeting, to ensure that all countywide first responders are coordinating their responses in the event of a mass shooting or major event at a school facility in Harris County.  The 3-hour meeting was extremely productive and beneficial as we quickly realized that the almost 100 agencies in Harris County are all gearing up for the new school year that will be upon us in just over 2 more weeks.  The safety of our children at any of the hundreds of schools is paramount and we all want to make sure that any response is swift, effective, and efficient.

Hunters Creek

7/23/22 at 0245 Hours. 900 Block of Bingle, Driving While Intoxicated/Accident. Officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the area.  Upon arrival officers located a vehicle up on the median that had struck a landscaping boulder. Officers observed signs of intoxication on the driver.  The female driver failed a series of sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A blood test was obtained, and the 24-year-old driver was booked into the Harris County Jail. The vehicle was towed.

7/24/22 at 0130 hours. 200 Block of Voss. Recovered Stolen Vehicle. Officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle entering the villages on Voss. Officers were nearby and located the vehicle.  Upon speaking with the driver, he male stated that he had bought the vehicle from a friend of a friend and was making $200 monthly payments.  He had heard that the subject was now in jail and that he could be contacted there.  The owner of the vehicle was contacted and confirmed his car was stolen.  The 25-year-old male was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. The vehicle was recovered.

7/26/22 at 0900 Hours. 600 Voss. Recovered Stolen License Plate. Officers were alerted to vehicle with a stolen license plate on it entering the villages on Voss Road.  Officers were nearby and located a truck with the license plate. Officers stopped the vehicle. Through investigation officers determined that the truck had also been stolen and had been recovered but now had a stolen license plate on it.  The license plate was recovered. The owner was released.

7/27/22 0900 Hours. Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported that he is a contractor working in the area and had observed a male enter his unlocked vehicle. After he checked his truck, nothing was missing but he did located package that appeared to contain cocaine that was not his.  A report was taken, and the suspected cocaine was collected and tagged into the evidence room.

7/28/22 at 1015 Hours. 1-100 Block of Hampton Ct. Fraud. The victim reported that a check that she had mailed at the mailbox located at Echo and Gaylord had been intercepted, washed, and reissued to a female whom she did not know.  Information about the check and the payee was collected and provided to detectives for their follow up investigation.

Piney Point

7/23/22 at 1745 Hours. 10100 Block of Windemere. Burglary of a Habitation. The victim reported that when he awoke in the morning, he found the cabinets and drawers open in his kitchen.  Upon further inspection he found a broken window on a rear door. After doing some other chores he discovered a vehicle missing from the garage. Officers activated a vehicle locating system on the car and it was located parked on a street in Houston.  A crime scene technician processed the scene and the recovered vehicle. Information was provided to detectives for their follow up investigation.

7/28/22 at 1800 Hours. 300 Block of Piney Point Road. Theft of a Catalytic Converter. A contractor had just finished working for the day and when he started his truck, he found that the catalytic converter had been cut off. Officers collected information on the truck and nearby residents were asked to check their surveillance video systems for any footage of the area. Detectives were notified and have taken over the investigation.

7/29/22 at 0015 Hours. 2000 Block of S. Piney Point. Possession of Methamphetamine. Officers were on patrol and observed a male sitting on the bridge without a shirt and holding a black backpack.  A few minutes later the same male was seen now wearing a shirt but without the backpack.  Upon speaking with the male, he declined that it was him who the officer had just seen minutes later.  Due to his suspicious behavior, officers checked the area and found the backpack nearby that contained women’s clothing and other new items. The male was searched, and officers located methamphetamine on his person.  The 46-year-old male was placed under arrest and booked into the Harris County Jail.
