On Tuesday morning, Village Fire responded to a residential
structure fire in the 300 Block of Tynebridge. Upon arrival firefighters
observed heavy smoke coming from the residence and requested assistance from
Houston Fire. Within 20 minutes fire personnel had the fire contained within
the chimney and rafter area of the home. Fire
personnel then systematically worked the fire that was in between the walls of
the home. Fortunately, no one was injured, and fire personnel were able to keep
damage to a minimum. The cause of the fire was found to have originated from an outdoor patio fireplace. Great work by Village and Houston fire
personnel in coordinating their firefighting efforts during this incident. (Reminder:
Last week we changed our clocks so that means it was also time to change
smoke/fire alarm batteries. If you forgot to do them, you now have a weekend
project).
Coffee with a COP. Please do not forget that tomorrow,
Saturday March 18th from 9 am to 1 pm we will be at the Memorial
Villages Farmers Market hosting “Coffee with a Cop”. Stop by and meet many of
us and enjoy a free cup of coffee. Then at 11am, the Houston area FBI Office
will be hosting a 60-minute training on what to do in the event of an active
shooter, “Run, Hide, Fight”. The last
time we hosted this training over 100 people attended, so get there early for
the best seating.
This is the last weekend of the 2023 spring break. The
morning commutes have been nice and easy, and the limited traffic and cool
crisp mornings have made morning walks and runs extremely enjoyable for all
of you that have been out. We have seen the increased activity and have had our
bicycle patrol out helping keep an eye on things as well. Next week school will
be back in session so enjoy one last extra quiet weekend until summer.
Our next RAD class has been scheduled for April 4 – 6,
2023 from 10am – 2pm each day. Classes will be held at Chapelwood. To sign up

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone. If you are going out
tonight expect large crowds at many area restaurants. If you are out late, be
on the lookout for intoxicated drivers and drive defensively. For some reason,
St. Patrick’s Day is one of those unofficial holiday’s where people like to
sometimes overdo it. (It must be the green beer). We will be looking for any intoxicated drivers
who might wander through the villages and get them off the roads and into the
Harris County Jail.

Thanks to the resident who sent over 4 sets of Rodeo
tickets for this weekend. Drawings were held and our staff has been able to
enjoy 2 concerts thus far with the last two being enjoyed tonight and
Sunday. Thank You.

Crime Report
Piney Point
3/10/23 at 1930 Hours. 1-100 Block of Radney Estates.
Driving While Intoxicated. While on routine patrol officers drove up on a
vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway. Upon checking the vehicle
officers located a male subject passed out behind the wheel with the vehicle
running. The male stated that he had been drinking and pulled over due to his
intoxication. The male was given a series of sobriety tests which he failed.
Officers also located a loaded handgun inside of the vehicle. The Male was
given a subsequent breath test that showed his BAC to be over the legal
limit. The 31-year-old male was booked
into the Harris County Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
3/16/23 at 1015 Hours. 600 Block of Piney Point Road.
Fraud. The victim reported that she had received notice of a payment being
declined in reference to an Amazon purchase. The victim contacted a phone
number that she later found was not related to Amazon. The male on the phone
stated that payment needed to be made via a gift card. After purchasing the
gift card, the victim realized that she had been defrauded. The balance on the
gift card had already been transferred and the phone number was no longer being
answered. Information was collected and provided to detectives for their follow
up investigation.
Hunters Creek
3/10/23 at 1400 Hours. 8400 Block of Katy Freeway.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle/Multiple Felony Arrests. Officers heard a pursuit
entering the villages on I-10 being conducted by HPD. The suspect vehicle had
been stolen earlier during an armed robbery. The vehicle exited I-10 onto the
frontage road and attempted to turn south on Hunters Creek Drive when the
vehicle lost control striking multiple signs on the property. Multiple suspects
then ran from the scene in various directions. Both MVPD and HPD officers began
pursuing the suspects. 3 were taken into custody, while one began jumping over
fences. A perimeter was set up and an
HPD K9 was requested. The K9 began searching the area and located the
outstanding suspect hiding in a backyard of a residence. The suspect was bitten
by the police dog as he attempted to flee.
The vehicle was recovered and HPD took over the investigation.
3/14/23 at 1300 Hours. 11600 Block of Memorial Drive. Theft.
Officers were dispatched to the area in reference to a male suspect looking inside home mailboxes. Upon arrival officers located
the male suspect who was found to be opening pieces of mail while sitting on a
curb. The mail was found to belong to
several area residents. The subject was also found to be a known mental heath consumer.
The DA’s Office was contacted but declined charges due to the diminished mental
health of the suspect. The male was transported out of the area and the mail
collected and returned to the proper residences.
Bunker Hill
3/14/23 at 1645 Hours. 1 – 100 Block of Dunnam Lane.
Fraud. The victim reported that while
reviewing her checking account she noticed that a check she had issued and
mailed had been intercepted, washed, and cashed by a subject whom she did not
know. The check had been mailed at the end of January from the mailbox in front
of her home. The check payee and the amount of the check had been changed. Information about the check was collected and
provided to detectives for their follow up investigation.
3/16/23 at 2100 Hours. 300 Block of Gessner. Driving
While Intoxicated. Officers were monitoring the intersection of Gessner and
Memorial when a vehicle was observed running a solid red light. Officers then
initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon approaching the driver, officers
observed signs of intoxication. Officers had the driver perform a series of
sobriety tests which he failed. The driver was transported to the Harris County
Jail where a blood alcohol test showed his BAC to be a .14%. The 36-year-old male driver was booked into
the jail and his vehicle towed.
