Memorial Villages Police Department

From the Desk of Chief Ray Schultz,

This weekend the City of Houston will be announcing additional water restrictions due to the extended heat wave and the effect on area water supplies. Even though the Villages have our own water systems, they are connected to the City of Houston system.  The local village water systems are also asking that we all conserve water as much as possible in order to avoid any long-term complications. Please see the attached memo from the Village Water Authority.

Date: August 24, 2023

Dear Memorial Villages Water Authority Customer,

MVWA is moving to Stage 2 Watering Restrictions effective August 27, 2023, due to extremely high daily irrigation demand. Please note the new restrictions below:

 ·       Outdoor watering hours will be limited to between 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight on designated days.

·       Addresses ending in (0,2,4,6,8): Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

·       Addresses ending in (1,3,5,7,9): Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

·       No Watering on Sundays.

·       The use of water to wash down personal property is limited to between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on designated days.

·       Irrigation of landscaped areas is permitted at anytime by means of a hand-held hose, a faucet filled bucket or watering can of five (5) gallons or less, or drip irrigation system.

·       Filling of all new and existing pools, hot tubs, wading pools is prohibited except on designated watering days.

Please adjust irrigation schedules to follow this new guideline. MVWA staff will be patrolling neighborhoods to monitor compliance with the new restrictions.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this unprecedented time.

Sincerely,

MVWA Staff

We will be adjusting our water schedule here at the MVPD and hope you will do the same. We are all hoping for an early fall with a nice cool season and lots of fall showers. No hurricanes.

This week we heard that roving scammers/thieves (AKA: Gypsies) found a victim in a nearby community.  They were able to successfully lure the victim away from his home to examine some trees near powerlines that needed trimming attention. When the victim was preoccupied, a second suspect entered the victim’s home and committed a theft.  Please remember to not fall for this trick.

Should anyone come to your home unannounced, asking to inspect your home, yard, water, gas, pool, etc… call us immediately.  Look and see what type of vehicle they arrived in and give that information to the dispatcher. We will dispatch officers immediately.  The suspects thus far are using what appears to be rented vehicles with fake temporary paper plates.  We want this information so we can quickly enter it into the ALPR system, and begin tracking it with hopes of intercepting them before they get away.  Also, please share this information with any older neighbors who may not get our V-linc messages.  These suspects are targeting older residents and we do not want any of our residents to be victimized. We have caught this group before, and we will catch them again. Please be extra vigilant and help us catch this crew.

Wednesday night there was a community ice cream social held at the Hedwig Library. Everyone had a great time enjoying some refreshing ice cream and getting to meet new neighbors and friends. Thanks for the invite.

Thank you to the residents who sent over kolaches this week and for the tickets to the Theater, Astro’s games and the Texans game.  Our team enjoyed the food and the opportunities to spend time with their families and loved ones at the games and theater.  Thank you, thank you. Also, this week Piney Point Village officials sponsored their annual MVPD dinner with MVPD staff. Wednesday was Taste of Texas Day for staff who all enjoyed a great steak. Thank you, Mayor and Council.

Have a super weekend. Chief Ray Schultz rschultz@mvpdtx.org
