From the Desk of Chief Ray Schultz,
Please do not forget that National Night Out is right
around the corner and will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Most
events will occur between 5pm and 8 pm (but that is completely up to you). If
you are hosting a National Night Out event in your neighborhood, don’t forget
to register your gathering with Officer Larry Boggus at lboggus@mvpdtx.org
so we can ensure that an officer stops by to visit with your group. Read more
about NNO in the Buzz magazine at the following link. National Night Out: Connecting Neighbors and Law Enforcement

On Monday evening, MVPD detectives joined scouts at Kinkaid
for a class on Fingerprinting. Everyone had a great time learning how to
locate, lift and save latent fingerprints. Thanks to Detective Cerny and Officers
Boggus and Vasquez for helping put the class and workshop together.
On Wednesday afternoon, several MVPD officers joined
Bunker Hill Elementary School students at lunch. Based on the attached photo it
looks like everyone was having a great time.
The good news is the worse part of the hurricane
season is now behind us, the bad news, that means that fall will be here before
we know it. Fall also means shorter days and earlier evenings. Until the time changes,
we will have darker mornings meaning kids heading off to school in low light
conditions. Please be extra careful if
you are out before 7 am and be on the lookout for walkers, runners and children
waiting for buses. This is also where I give
my annual warning to runners to not run down the middle of Memorial, Taylorcrest,
Hedwig or Beinhorn in the dark. Pedestrian vs car usually means the pedestrian
loses.
This week’s crime report is pretty short, so with that,
I will keep my part short too!
Have a great weekend. Chief Ray Schultz rschultz@mvpdtx.org
